How does one flush out the Impulse coupling with Kerosene? The two little oil filler caps are plugged. How do you clean them out?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott, The front greese cup on an H4 mag is plugged with wick or felt you use a few drops of oil every now and then so the greese does not dry up in the rotor gear. As far as the rear there should be no restriction there You can give it a few good squirts of oil to lube the trip mech. While it running on the tractor is the best so it work in but a turning over speed so the trip is ingauged . As far as the kero You cantake the mag off and squirt some kero around and behind the trip and turn it over and let it clean some of the greese and junk out of the trip then blow it dry and put it on and lube it with the light 3 and 1 oil .If your trip works ok and is crisp just give hera few shots of the 3 and 1 oil> I would get something to stick in the iol cup and pull the restriction out of the rear cup or if its greese just use a piece of wire to get it cleaned out. If you need help let me know. JON

The two little oil filler caps have felt plugs inside the tube. the felt is there for two reasons, but the main reason is to keep someone from filling the mag with oil. If you need to clean the mag, pull it off and go through it. It's not a big job to disassemble and re- assemble. I did mine last week. And if yours need cleaning, I'll bet the bearings need grease, ye gotta take it apart to grease the bearings.
