W-9 rebuild

I am getting ready to do some work on Dad's old W-9. It's blowing some smoke, clatters a little, so probably plan on opening up the motor, but haven't done a compression check yet. A few quick questions so I can line out parts:

1) Where can I find a rebuild kit for the motor? Don't know what all if anything that I need yet, but see the M/W-6 parts and kits advertised, but haven't found a W-9 kit or parts.

2) Tractor doesn't currently have a PTO, how tough is one to install?

3) I need some rims, one rear (18.4-34 tires) is rusted beyond repair, and one front is yellow and kind of fits, but not really, where to look? Also need 2 18.4-34 rears in decent shape in/near Colorado.

4) Related to above, how much will the other rear wheel weigh? It's full of calcium and I am trying to decide about re-filling after replacing the tire/tube. The tractor also has hub weights, about 2 foot diameter, about 18 inches or so deep if I remember, plus I think inside weights (tractor is currently at my Mom's farm, 1 hour away)

Thanks for any help/hints/tips anyone might offer.

weberstractorworks.com has a sleeve and piston kit
for your W9 if it has the 4.4" bore. The P/N is
56254DA and the price is $1500.00. Ouch, Hal

For NOS engine parts and gaskets try Parts of the Past, Tom Underwood, 785-749-5231. This guy has the most unbelivable inventory of NOS parts for IHC tractors & trucks.

GOOD LUCK

Check out a tractor salvage yard in Bridgeport, Nebr., I believe it's called "Gary's Implement" or something similar. If Allen comes on here he'll know for sure. They should have alot of the used parts you need if Cowman cant get you fixed up.

I've probibly got a rim. I'd leave the calcium out unless you realy nead the weight. those tractors are plenty heavy to haul without it. W9 parts are hard to come by. Check with justin Weber he somtimes has parts but they won't be cheap. Unless you realy want the W9 and don't care what it costs, you might want to find a more common tractor for a project.

I wouldn"t say I"m going to restore it, I last used it 2 years ago, rim split and cut the tube, so it"s been parked. I know it needs the rim, and tires, while I"m working, figured I would do a carb kit, basic tune-up, and if I could find a decent price on an inframe, at least get the kit, even if I don"t need it yet. Parts aren"t going to get any easier to find. It spent most of it"s life pushing silage (didn"t even have a drawbar on it when we got it) so it probably wasn"t pushed too hard, just heavy as heck.

It was one of Dad"s tractors, so it will stay around (along with the MD and M with F-10"s, 5010 turbo (was bought new by my Grandpa), the Oliver 60 Mom drove as a little girl pulling rakes (really needs a rebuild kit, another tough one to find)... Dad said the way the blade is set up on the W9 he could move 1/2 inch of dirt at a time if he wanted, and would push whatever he had traction for...perfect for building a driveway at the new house.

If you do have a rim, what would you want for it and where are you in Nebraska?
