After seeing the shock/seat mismatch I got to wondering if this isn't closer to original than all things matching. It stands to reason that a number of items would NOT have been on the tractor at final paint. Lights, of course, who wants red lenses? The seat, paint on the vinyl, nah. Steering wheel. Seat assembly? PTO Shield? Muffler, Air cleaner? Sediment bowl? Fan belt? What do you think guys? What was added on after final paint. These things would have non-painted hardware and a little color mismatch depending on the vendor (Guide) for example. Monroe. Etc.

I prefer that the parts I order come unpainted, that includes primer -- it all has to come off anyway, I'd rather have rust. Looks like Allan's shock came from OEM Tractor Parts, identical color as the one I ordered -- and their seat springs are pink, may be primer, I just sanded it off.

steering wheel, fan belt, sparkplug wires, plugs, distributor cap, just a few of the things that were painted red. the man with the gun didn't care, he just squirted what came by.

Boy, dunno Gordo,

Bought a lot of new ones. The only things that weren't red were the mufflers and the rims/tires. :>)

Everything was installed on the tractor and then it was painted. Those items which were not to be red were masked off before painting.

Geez, was it really that way? It seems like the pictures I've seen of farmalls out of the factory didn't have red steering wheels, etc. It seems like it would have just been more efficient to install some things after paint. Who wants to mask the steering wheel rim and not the spokes? Same for the seat. Lights did ground through their base though- that would have been tough with paint on. I wonder if Gordo is onto something.
