What's the capacity of the hydraulic system on a Super C and where do you drain and fill it? Also, are the Touch Control filters readily available at Case IH or parts stores? Thank, Cmore

Drain and fill plugs are located on the left side of the unit. MAKE SURE you loosen the fill plug at the top BEFORE removing the drain plug, as these units are not vented, and even the smallest amount of pressure build up will result in a hydraulic oil bath in the blink of an eye if pressure is not bled off first (guess how I know!). Not sure of the capacity, cause I don"t have my book with me. The "filter" is made of wire mesh, which can be removed, cleaned & reinstalled. It is located behind the panel with four bolts where the temperature probe enters the unit, also on the left side. You may have to disconnect the steering column to remove it.

When I did that Peabody I almost lost my left eye. That plug came out like a bullet and hit me in the corner of the eye. Had a shiner for about a week. But hey, my hair laid down real nice with all that oil in it. Best it's looked in years.

I took an oil bath too. Handy thing to know that's for sure. What a mess. When removeing the temperature probe be very gentle as I found the little ball filled with whatever the fluid is breaks very eaily.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one to find out about the non-vented system the hard way. The C takes about 3 quarts of fluid. You are supposed to have the rockshafts back and fill it to about 1/2 inch below the fill hole. Don't over fill it because it can build up pressure after you have been operating it for awhile. Mine lasted about 1 hour and then I blew one of the soft plugs on the right side. And yes, the soft plugs are still available from Case/IH.
