I have an 1940 h that has gas in the oil. Does this mean valve or else, was tuning it up and found #2 fouled or wet it idles good but misses now and then when under load thought it was carb first but not sure now. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

I agree with Farmalljim10 and Gordo. That is not an uncommon problem and if a cylinder isn't firing it won't take much running to see signs of gasoline in the crankcase. I'm not a Champion fan but D21 Champions seem to work well in H's and M's. A hotter plug will burn the fuel cleanly. You should definitely change the oil as the gasoline thinned oil will not lubricate as well and your oil pressure could be effected. Lean out your carb and get your tractor up to operating temperature ASAP. Use the shutters or a blanket over the grill until your guage is up in the "RUN" area of the guage, warm engine , hotter plugs , leaned out carb....you'll be the man!...Mike in Exeter Ontario

Tighten up the clearance on the intake on #2. SOunds like the intakes (and exhaust) valves are not seating well. aLSO try leaning the run mixture a little.

Gas in the oil is probably getting there past the piston. Sounds like it's time to pull the head.
