Allen,

I'm glad you found one, looks just like the one that I have if I would expose it to the even application of an atomized anti-oxidant mixture containing substantial amounts of aluminum pigment that was under pressure. :>) I suppose you would just spray paint it instead!

Did you get that 966 home yet?

Hi Lynn,

No, haven't been in there for awhile to see what is going on. I've got to run to the bank this afternoon, so might whip by there and tell 'em that I've absolutely got to have it by the 20th of September. :>)

Last I knew, they were gonna fix a hydraulic leak under the seat.

And that reminds me of another thing that has me worried. There is supposed to be a "T" affair that bolts to the back of the seat to mount the SMV sign on. Don't remember seeing the darned thing either. 'Spose I'm gonna have to round one of those up too. :>(

I don't buddy. I think everybody needs a chromium plated fully illuminated drawbar hitch pin for their hayride wagon. :-) Harley

Gemme a minute,

I gotta run this by the wife. I don't understand those big words you use! :>)

Anyway, it should be better than that 3' chunk of logchain that came on the old beater. :>(

Hi Doc!

Naw, gettin' the darned pin only took three days. Took me six months to decide wheather or not to spend the money. :>)

Buyin' old rusty stuff, I have no problem with. Dealin' with CaseIH, on the other hand, always gives me heartburn. :>(

I know what ya mean there , when i was fixen tractors full time they would not even give me 10% off on parts . The owner and i had many disagrements on the fact that i was buying used farmall tractors and selling them in HIS back yard and he made the comment that i was crazy for even tryen to sell that 706 gas because nobody would buy it and when i told him that the one that was setting out ft. of the shop was not the same one that he saw the last time that he stopped by it was the 10th one since then and there was two more in the shop getting new T/A's and other fixens I thought that he was going to choke on his pepsi.

I find it sad, but that sounds typical. About 12 years ago, my 966 started getting water in the oil. My dad had bought it new, always took care of it and it only had about 5200 hours on it. I stopped at my most convenient CIH jockey (dealer is really a term that compliments more than he deserves) plaza and went in to visit the both the parts man and the sales man. First, I wanted to know what parts were included in his “overhaul special” and what they would cost me, and then I wanted to know how much he wanted for a nice looking 186 Hydro he had on the lot. All the parts man (who knew both my dad and me very well) would tell me was that I would only save a couple hundred dollars by overhauling it myself. The sales man offered me junk price for my 966 on trade in and wanted about 25% more to boot than his Hydro was really worth. I left and didn't go back for about 8 years, and I can count the number of times I've been there since on one hand.

I found a lesser known CIH dealer a few miles further from me, and the parts guy there looked at the ad and priced out the parts at $1500 less (a savings of 60%) than what the total package was at the jockey’s place. Needless to say, I moved all my CIH business to this dealer and I’ve been a lot happier since.

Yep, Like the time a guy wanted to buy a baler from the dealer but needed a tractor to pull it with and the dealer did not have anything on his lot like always and guess what they came to me as i just happened to have setting on the lot ready to go to the field a nice 65 706 wide ft. diesel and i got my pound of flesh The #1 salesman brought the customer out to look at it and drove it all over the place and could not find a thing wrong and the sales man asked me how much here we go the price just went up i nailed them for 7250 CHA CHING. In the bank and they sold a junk baler and made atleast 10 service call to make it work how many service call did i make on the 706 none in the first three years and went down to adjust the clutch and T/A linkage because it was getting hard to get out of gear. Oh btw did that for FREE.
