After you get it back together & warmed up a few times, be sure to re-torque the head & after that set the valves again. I just did mine this morning, and was surprized how much it had changed in a week since I put it back together. I torqued it to about 70 lbs. when I put the head back on last week. This morning, I put the wrench on it again, and the nuts started turning at about 45lbs. I took them up to 80lbs. this time, put the rocker back on, & had to set the valves to .014 again while still warm. When I torque a fresh head the first time, I usually go about half way the first time, let it rest a few minutes, then go about 75%, let it rest, then finish it.

If the B has cotter pins in the rod nuts they recommend 40-45 ft-lb. If the rod haave lock nuts the recommend 43-49 ft-lb.

They recommend 75 ft-lb on the main bearings and 65 ft-lb on the head torque. I see they recommend
up to 80 ft-lb on the head in some manuals. I used 65 ft-lb on the Farmall A that restored and never had any leakage problem. Hal

Head 80, mains 75, rods 40-45 if nuts have cotter pins, 43-49 with self locking nuts, as per I&T manual.
