I have a question for you guys out there. Has anybody ever heard of or seen a IH 10 speed M? I know of a Farmall M with this so called 10 speed. I have heard of many m@w 9 speeds but never a ten speed.

The tractor can be in high and low through every single gear-first thru 5 and also reverse. I am not sure what the difference is between the 9 speed. The guy claims it is orginal from IH and is asking $6000 for the M.

Just wondering if anybody has seen this or heard of this-maybe it is just a 9 speed and this guy is blowing smoke.

Thanks

The only possibility is that the "M" is a Super MTA with torque amplifier, that is indeed a 10 speed, and if the tractor is in excellent condition, $6000 may not be out of line. If it is an M, then you shouldn't be able to see the guy for the smoke. And not worth anyway near $6000.

No, it is not a MTA. Straight 1947 (I believe) Farmall M. He is just out of line. Or maybe he doesnt know about it himself.

Have you had a chance to look at the tractor? What does the "high/low" shifter look like? If it's a long lever on the left side of the operator's platform with a squeeze handle, it's an MTA. But, I'm guessing you know the difference already.

He may be blowing smoke up your butt, or he may just have a 9-speed that he embellishing the capabilities of.

No, the tractor is not a Super MTA. I have driven a MTA for years. This is a straight M. I lever for shifter between high and low sits on the right side of the tractor-near where your belly pump lever would be. The only thing is the linkage says M@W on it (noticed after a better look). I am thinking it is just a m@w 9 speed.

Thanks for the info though guys. Stuff like this bugs me-I try to keep up my knowledge on IH. Thought maybe they had some experimental deal out for a while.
