I have a 1953 Super C with a wide frontend. There were several welds on it plus the left front spindle tube (lack of another name to call it...the tube that the spindle is in)is broke completely off. I was furtunate in locating a good used one, but I have to remove the spindle from my existing frontend and put them in my new one. I"m have a hard time removing them...is there a trick or do I just have to "drive" them out with block and hammer? I don"t want to destroy them.

Rick, They can be a bugger to get out. The tapered bolt that screws into the contol arm and then goes into the tapered hole in the spindle, will sometimes raise the metal slightly on the spindle, which prevents the spindle from coming out through the bushing. What you need to do is file that area carefully and then tap spindle out with some hard wood or brass. Where in Vt are you? I have a place in East Wells,Vt.
