Also what size bore are you looking for. Most M'S are 4" bore instead of the origional 3-7/8" bore. Larger pistons-thinner sleeves.

The stepped head pistons will increase the compression, and power, but require more effort to start the engine. If you still are running a 6-volt system, it will need to be in good to excellent condition to start in the winter. (Heavy cables, clean connections, etc, etc…) A 12-volt system will be more forgiving to corroded terminals etc. I would go with the stepped pistons, unless you never need any more power than you had and you can save money.

Stepped head pistons will increase your compression...thus increasing HP some. The compression is rather low on a lot of these old tractors...allowing you to use a lesser grade of fuel. If you are going to change out pistons anyway, go ahead and use the stepped ones..compression will still be low enough for regular unleaded gas.
