I don't have a good picture of the setup on my Super A here at work, but basically to make it like mine (a pull type) you need to unscrew the starter switch from the starter and turn it around 180 degrees and screw it back in, then reconnect the rod.

Matt, The A"s up until the supers had a foot push rod to start with an angle bracket mounted on the rear tank support. From the pictures you posted, you dont have a pull rod setup, but you would have to push the rod you have. YOu did do a nice job of fabricating the rod, and you might keep it in case you want to install it on a super A or a C at some later date.

That is not the correct one. The bkt on the steering post is for the exhaust lift assy. The correct starter rod is foot operated and mounts off the gas tank support. I have the correct ones if you need one. send e-mail

Is it possible that this tractor was originally equipped with the exhaust lift, or could that bracket just be a part from another tractor? Is there a way to find out with serial numbers?

Gene, I tried to e-mail you but there is something wrong with your address or my computer. I"d like to talk to you about one of those foot actuated starters for an A or B.

Dave

A's and B's should have foot operated starter as far as I know. Pull type was on later models. I have seen pull type on some older tractors but I don't think this is origional. Dave.

My A has the foot starter, real short rod you puch with your foot, mounted on the gas tank support. My super A has the pull style. All the A's I have seen have had foot style. Hope that helps, but I am sure someone else will have the sure answer.

I am not sure. My dad had a B that had a foot operated push rod, not one that pulls -- I am positive it was a factory setup. Super A has pull rod. geneb will post the correct answer.

My 45 A has the foot operated starter. A little akward to push in with a large shoe size. But mine looks to be all stock from the factory. Andrew
