I have a 544 hydro with a C200 gas engine. The exhaust manifold is getting a crack between the 1-2 cylinders. I let the motor cool down for about 10-15 (@ 600-800 rpms) minutes after working it. Is this something I should expect for a 30 year old tractor? How do you folks repair this? How do I avoid this in the future?

Probably just somthing to be expected. A new manifold should be avalible from Case-IH, or take yours to a good welding shop. Probably can be welded with that nickel rod, depending on how bad it is actually cracked. While you're at it, check the intake manifold over. C-200's are famous for leaky gaskets between the intake and the head.
