I'VE HAD MY INT'L 444 MOTOR REBUILT. NOW I CAN'T GET THE GLOW PLUGS TO HEAT UP. I'VE BOUGHT NEW GLOW PLUGS AND NEW RESISTOR/RELAY. MANUFATURED IN 1968 I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS A NEGATIVE GRND. OR POSITIVE GRND. SYSTEM. IT IS 12 VOLT AND HAS THE BD 154 4CYL. DIESEL IN IT. THE RESISTOR WITH THE SALT SHAKER LOOKING END ON IT GETS RED HOT BUT NOTHING TO THE GLOW PLUG ITSELF. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Hi James, the 444, with alternator, is négative ground, the others(250,275,414,434) are positive. The glow-plugs and salt shaker should connected in serie, may be you have a short circuit somewhere. Normally, put the copper wires with loops on the 1,2 and 3,4 cylinders. Put isolators on the each glow-plugs ends, put a copper wire with loops on the 2,3 cylinder. On the 4, put the wire from the salt shaker and the ground from the body on the 1 plug. Thight all the nuts. Bernard le mécano Québec Canada
