Any clue on what an unloaded 12x28 tire and wheel (and disc center) weighs? I had the fight of my life with one yesterday...I could not believe what it weighs....
I dont believe its loaded, but with what it weighs it might be.

$2-$300 for an engine hoist may save more than your back. On my cast wheels, I remove the rim first--takes more time, but safer, as my hoist is meant only for straight lifting, not things that may tilt if not lifted exactly from the center. For the 300U the rim and tire probably weigh more than the stamped center. Still easier to handle separately.

No disc center but it still probably took the better part of one hour and 3 years off the service life of my back just to flip one around so I could dish them in. Mine were 3/4 filled and it felt like slow dancing with a Coke machine. I am guessing at least 400 lbs and I was praying the whole time it wouldn't go horizontal on me. And then re-hanging them by yourself is a TRICK...
