It runs fine while it is warm out, but when it gets cold, it starts to miss. Any suggestions why this might occur. I"ve cleaned the carb., cleaned tank, sediment bowl, and checked ignition system. No luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you are familiar with the letter series carbs, and assume the Super and 00/50 series to be the same, they aren't. Try adjusting the main jet screw 5 turns out, which is the maximum power setting. That may not be the problem, but I can see a lean condition causing more problems in cold than warm conditions, particularly if you are unable to run the tractor enough to get it completely warmed up. Takes a while sometimes.

one more thing. how is the gas over there???
i get the high octane ( 88- 92) or higher if i can find it. a little HEET additive ( same as you put in cars in the winter) will help. I get the isopropal (red bottle)... one bottle per full tank.

Some Dry Gas facts in reply to JOSSETTE, 02-06-2005 10:26:33
Yea,watch out for the original HEET and Christy Dry Gas(Christy was the first "Dry Gas")....its methanol. That rusts metal, eats rubber and only separates the water from the fuel.Isopropyl actually swallows the water and allows it to be burnt, and the engine doesnt feel a thing...
Watch out also for some that are a mix of both.Methanol is far cheaper than isopropyl, and thats why you usually see that especially at Wal Mart and cheapie stores.
And no,rubbing alcohol isnt the same. Its mostly water so you dont burn yourself when you use it as a topical treatment. The water is what you are trying to avoid in the first place....

HEET is ok,as long as its the isopropyl and not the methanol. Its a MUST to read that label.
Also, methanol should never be used in a Diesel(or a gas with FI)...even though the label says "for fuel injected and diesel engines".

And..ever wonder why fuel tanks can rust at the bottom? The water stays at the bottom, and the fuel rises to the top.Unless its swallowed up by isopropyl,it can sit there and rot the bottom out from the inside-out.Methanol does not change the waters location.(In a car this is vital as the fuel picks up from the top and there is always a layer of fuel/water at the bottom).
