Clearance for suitcase weights on a 504

I need some weight on the front of my 504. It has a wide front end. The tie rods are in front of the axle assembly. I see pictures of 504s with brackets bolted on the front and suitcase weights hanging on the bracket. The only ones I see with the suitcase weights installed have the tie rods behind the front axle assembly or are tricyle front ends. The brackets and weights are pretty pricy, so I am asking if anyone has any experience with suitcase weights on a wide front end 504 with the tie rods in front of the axle assembly. Do the weights hang high enough to clear the tie rods? Thanks in advance.

I looked at my original sales literature on the 504 this morning and only see the suitcase weights shown on the trike front. The 75 pound weights should work and you could actually move the bracket up using the top holes of bolster and the bottom holes of the bracket. I installed front slab weights on my 504 last year and the manuals show several of them stacked out from the tractor up to four I think. You could also consider the front wheel weights for the solid wheels which are a little tough to find or last option could be to fill the front tires with calcium chloride solution. Migraine

Hi Clair,

My guess would be that the smaller weights "just" clear the tie rods.

Here's a picture of one with the weight bracket, but the weights aren't hanging. Might give you some idea of how they mount.
