My brother hooked up his hydraulic log splitter to split some firewood and that big 1466 wouldn't even put a dent in the wood, much less split it.

Hooked up another smaller tractor and it didn't bat an eye.

Where should we start troubleshooting? Relief valve, filter, pump....?? 3pt works fine, power steering works fine.

Thanks for any info.....

If you have a pressure gauge fix it to a coupler tip and pulg it into the tractor remote and stroke the lever and see what the relief pressure is. Just sounds like the releif valve is bad. 2000 psi could be what they had but I'd put in a 2500 psi releif valve in that big of a tractor.

smurph72 The first think I would do is warm it up some then with out anything hocked to the hydraulic valve just pull one of the levers to see if it pulls the engine and it should and it should. If so could be the coupler you were using could be felief valve if so then the hitch may move but would not lift full load. The 14 should put out 2000psi. In the old days when the H,M and JD"s and others would lift a load of beens the C' and SC's were brought in to do the job.

does the 3-point have a 2-way valve== does it have down pressure as well as up. log spliters need a two-way valve to work.
