I looked at a 1066 today with the black stripe over the front of the hood. Are these a later model than the ones without the stripe? Are they better than the other ones? Is there anything I need to look out for? We had one without the stripe when I was a kid(the first big tractor I ever drove)and it was a real good tractor. Thanks to all who respond

My 1066 is 1975 and just has turbo on the front nose without any black stripe. Eitherway, it is only a stripe, both nice tractors. Get it and be happy !!!!! !!!!! !!

depending on where it fall in line, the early blck stripes were the same as the ones before, then the 86 series parts started to go on them.
the later ones had a different rear and tranny housing, they have the cab mounts on them.

Got to check out the black stripe. Where it goes over the radiator cap (or some such indicator) will tell you if it is a real BS 1066 or just an old 10 with a BS decal added. Better check serial # to see if it is in fact a 1976.

Hi Jeff,

The black stripes were the '76 models.

Supposed to be just a touch more ponies; I think about 126 at the PTO & around 108 at the drawbar or something like that.

That was the style of the last 66 series before the 86 series came out. I don't remember for sure but I believe the year of these was 1976. They're not all that different from the early 66's.
