There are only mags on aircraft, never a distributor, wonder why? (but they are often Case)

Just leave whichever one you have alone, as long as it still works ok. I wouldn't put a mag on my 5 tractors that have distributers, and I wouldn't replace the mag with a distributer on the 6th one. Because I prefer that they remain as they came from the factory. And, you can hand crank and start a tractor that has a dead battery and a distributer, or I should say a "dead" battery that does not have enough juice to turn over the starter but is not completely discharged -- because it takes more to turn the starter than the ignition uses.

When you need your tractor, and the battery is dead, just get out your trusty crank, and give it a yank.

I like the mag at least you can get it to start if your battery is dead even if you have to part it on a hill to do so

I grew up in northwest PA and we abandoned magnetos years ago. out here in the dry west I sill find a lot or running tractors with magnetos. they make a good hot spark dead battery or not, if they are kept maintained.
