Slow on I-94 Farmall view.

Just wondering how much slow driving you MI guys tolerate on I-94, from a Canadian, driving 53' tractor trailer, while viewing Farmalls. See these in sub divisions from the interstate. Pulling off and trying to find that sub divisions with that rig, not best policy. Some county roads can lead to trouble.

The other thought I have is maybe these guys are on YT. Not long out of Port Huron, just past the Smith Creek Rd. on north west side of I-94, a guy with some letter series Farmalls. One real sharp looker, made up my mind H or Super with nf and duals. It might be an M or Super, but don't think. These letter series tractors run as they move from week to week.

Just before that one at Ravenswood Rd., again on the north west side a 2+2 that hasn't moved in almost 2 years. That 2+2 is about 700' from I-94 so don't know the model. Seems as though 2+2 may be out of commission.

If you guys are YT regulars, just wanted to say hello. Just have to get in my old Buick and do some touring when your show season starts.

Hugh,

Right on about the birds eye view from the big rigs!!!

Was on I-94 this week twice heading to the big windy city. Sometimes you have to wonder if you watch the fields more than the road, or the road more that the fields!!!! Oh well. If I'm behind you I'll be sure to understand why you may be running a little slower than the rest.

Was down in Virginia last week and some guy told me down there that there's all kinds of old tractors that people are hauling out of Mexico. He claims pretty reasonable too. Something to think about for those running close to the border and "need" something to keep the trailer weighted down for the back haul home.

Valentines day is indeed coming.

Buzz.

Buzz: Maybe what we need is a 5 mile long convoy across MI at 20mph. Kind of a demonstration, in support of them getting their old tractors out. I'm sure we are just seeing tip of the iceburg so to speak. I'd be willing to bet those old barns and sheds along I-94 are full of old iron.

If we gave the MI State Police, same revenus as they get off ON truckers each day, I bet those old boys would avoid us like we had the plague. They would even have time to go home and get their tractors out.

I guess it would only be worthwhile if they had about 20 tractors to the mile.

Hugh,

I've heard it rumored that I-94 is the best thing that ever came out of North Dakota. :>)

I also heard a rumor that the only thing North Dakota is good for is damning it up and making a lake out of it. Ive never been there, so I cannot comment. My grandparents are from Ashland Nebraska, so thats as far west as my travels go.

Hugh, About the only stretch of I-94 I travel with any frequency is between I-75 exit downtown Detroit to Ambassador Bridge/Mexican town exit. (Love those homemade tamales). I reckon I"ll have to take a little sightseeing tour, and see if I can scare up some good Farmalls. We have several collectors around here with 10 or more, but they keep them in sheds. Seems to me I did see a bunch of John Deeres down around Jackson or Battle Creek along I-94, but didnt take time to go look at them close up. My Dad used to run my Ma all over the country chasing down either an old tractor or an old Threshing machine. Once he saw a billboard with a picture of a Rumbly Oil Pull, while driving in Texas, and he went over 200 miles out of his way to go look at it. I"m sure that Murphy"s law applies to your sightings, in that some of the BEST tractors you will see while driving that semi, with no way on earth to turn off to take a closer look.

Hound: This JD collection, along I-94, I have missed that one. Better publish that mile marker number. Can't believe I missed one.

Paul: One can find more goodies from the seat of a semi than cars or pickups. I've only lived here in SW ON 3 years and my truck driving jobs have shown me all kinds of old iron, many of the locals don't even know about.

There is another guy down along I-94 near New Haven or Mt Clemens, Oliver is his sir name. Has about 2 dozen restored Farmalls, letter series mainly. His latest project I understand is a TD-18. I have directions written on how to find him.

vet: As Paul said those semis are the way to spot items, just not the best for honing in once you see.

Try touring on the other side of Lake Michigan, there are some nice machines on this side too.

Don: That was my goal in moving to SW Ontario, close enough to see most rural countryside within 500 miles of the Great Lakes. Now that is a lot of turf, and if I live to be 90, I may acomplish. Of course that is the beauty of these truck driving jobs, you see so much more from the seat, then go back with car and explore in detail, items that catch your eye.

I don't suppose that you ever see any nice looking Farmall Super Ms alongside the road, begging for a ride to Canada, especially to Ontario, especially to eastern Ontario, especially to the Pakenham area?!!

Do not feel that only you are lonely. Here in the lower Ottawa valley there were very few M or SM tractors sold new I only know of 3 or 4 on working farms. It looks like we must go southbound to get our much needed Farmall fix. QR

See a few SM at the antique tractor pulls we go to in the lower Ottawa Valley, Seaway area. Lots of M's around at them, though I must say not many M's or as far as that goes SM beat dads old plain 46 M. Have been told that some M's came with a lower 1'st plow gear thats why it pulls so good but don't know if that is true. I just hope that when he decides to retire from pulling I have the cash to buy his M but he is only going on 75 and not slowing down too much.If I hear of any SM for sale this summer I will keep you in mind. Meet a lot of nice people at them fair pulls.
