Changing a Loader Bucket

I just found a reasonable deal on a 1701 loader (fully hydraulic) I've been looking for to mount on my 340U. Only problem is that it has a manure bucket and I really wanted a full bucket for my use. Any idea how difficult it may be to find a bucket by itself, and also if there is any reason I can't change from a manure to "regular" bucket?

I just got a Farmhand 11 loader with a bucket so ugly it's embarrassing. Stoped at a metal salvage that I freequent and found a very good 6' John Deere dirt bucket for $75. I'll have to make new brackets. I got lucky. Used ones are around a lot cheaper than new, but you might have to make brackets. I still need one bucket cylinder.

There are plenty of after market buckets made in any size you want to fit any loader you have. Just check with local IH or JD dealer and he can fix you up. It will probably cost you about $800 though.

Most loaders could be had with severl types of buckets. The #35 loader on my JD was manure type with add on apparatus for bottom and sides for more sloppy manure. Later a wide bucket was added that slipped over the tines and hooked to back. I would think you could adapt whatever bucket you wanted to your loader especailly if you are handy with a welder and torch.
