The threaded half of the fan pulley on my 42 H is cracked and I need to replace it,. My question is, do I have to remove the radiator to to do this? I wouldn't ask this question, but I can't get to my tractor right now, and would like to know what I have to look forward to.

Not necessary to remove radiator. Just do some squeezing and it comes out. Just replaced water pump this weekend.

I WOULD PULL THE FRONT OFF IF I COULD. IT TAKES A LITTLE LONGER BUT THEN YOU WILL KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE FOR A RADIATOR. PUT NEW HOSES ON AND RUBBER BUSHINGS ON THE BOTTOM. A LITTLE PAINT AND THAT PART IS DONE FOR A LONG TIME. A LOT LESS SWEAR WORDS NOW AND IN THE FUTHER. SHOULD HAVE COULD HAVE. DONT FORGET THE SET SCREW IN THE PULLEY.

I think that you can. You need to take the fan and then the water pump off. I left mine until I went through the motor. If you are set up for it, removing the whole front end (incl. the radiator)is not all that difficult. If you are not set up for it, you could get squashed.

Thanks Riverbend, I was wishing for enough room to get the fan blade off, and then remove the cracked part. just a 15 minute job. but if I have to remove the front end, I have the equipment to do it, without gettin squashed..

The trouble is that you have to take the shaft out of the water pump to get at the pulley. It won't come off the front. The IT manual says to remove the radiator to remove the water pump. Just thinking about removing the radiator gives me a cramp in my thumb. There is a pin in the fixed side of the pulley ....
