I have been looking for a pair of used 11.2X36 tires without success. Here in south eastern Ontario Canada the best price I can find for new tires are $385.00 each + $40.00ea. tubes + $50.00ea. for install plus taxes or one spot $1000.00 installed if I took tractor there, Firestone or Goodyear same price. Said they use to get Titans for $290.00 but all back ordered for 2 or 3 months. I did contact one site in USA I have seen people say on the board price was great $205.00 but shipping to Canada was a killer. I was wondering what you guys in the U.S. pay for tires of similar size? That is some difference in price from Canada to USA. Also I am close to US border, can be in NY in 15 min. or so. I figure at $205.00 for a tire plus exchange on the money would cost me about $250.00 each plus gas to go get them myself. Anybody know of any good tire dealers around Ogdensburg, Alexandria or Lafargeville N.Y. that I could check out? Thanks for any help you guys can give.

Nebrasks Tire has 11.2x36 Rear tires listed for $185. each. I would guess that shipping would run $40.00 each which would make Firestones bought at your local dealer at $225.00 each U.S. competitive. $385. each seems to me, high in anyones money.

Terry:

A place that I have been referred to which I did call (best price I've found so far, and i'm going to be purchasing my 12.4 x 38's there this spring):
Townsend Tire -(near Londesborough, Ontario)
519-523-4742
I think the owner's name is George.
Steve Radford of Ontario Used Tractor Parts told me about this place.

Jeff, you're correct about Townsend Tire. I bought 600x16's at work and I got them at our cost and had to put them on myself one day at lunch. About two weeks later I was at Steve's and went over to Townsend Tire, his retail price was $57 each installed...that was my cost exactly from the supplier. I know several farmers in my area that go there for duals, rims, and their farm tire needs. Mike in Exeter Ontario

Miller tire has 11.2X36 4 ply Titans for $225 and Firestone Field and Road for $235 each US. Their tubes are $42 each though. Installing them is no big deal for unloded 4 plys I always do my own.

In my area, I have found the local Firestore place competitive with Miller tire, If you consider Millers shipping charges -- will vary by location.

Terry - Doubt you’re gonna do any better in NY state! If you take your quoted price then adjust for US/CDN currency exchange rate (1.242 as of last nite…), your final cost will be within a few $ of what I recently paid for similar tires/tubes/mounting here.

Also I don’t know how taxes work in Ontario. But here in NY unless you have a valid NYS Dept of Taxation & Finance tax exempt number, the dealer must nick you another 8-1/2% or so for NY sales tax.

My recommendation: Stick with your local tire dealer...

if I am not mistaken the size you need is about the same size as what I have on my Farmall B, instead of a tractor tire try the tires they use on piviot irrigation systems, my tires were only about $60 each, they look like more expensive tires, and I am sure they can handle all the tractor can...good luck

Where do you find out about pivot irrigation tires? We don't see much of that technology here in New England, though I've flown over the midwest and Texas a lot and know what you're talking about. Offhand I don't know what size those fat "Krispy Kremes" are that drive my 240U, but mine are mismatched, 95% worn, badly cracked and seeping chloride and god knows what else. Would love to find a cheaper alternative to the $600-700 I've been quoted just for the rubber. I just need my rig to run around a large yard and on dirt roads through the woods a few hours at a time and someday (hopefully) accept a set of chains for snow. Not plowing. Thanks guys, Dave D

That's about the same price I got here in Peterborough. (May have been 30-40 bucks cheaper), but it was for 13.6 x 28 tires. I don't know what sort of problems you may get into as far as duty when coming across the border, though, I would be interested in finding out.

Any farmers in the area who's field straddles the border? You could volunteer to plow his field and leave at the other end with used tires. Just a thought. My nickel Dick Davis

I think the border stays too wet to farm most years.

The border between Quebec and New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine are for the most part on land. Prior to 9-11, and before that before electronic surveillence, a lot of inventory variance ocurred with some good ole boys. And we thought life was boring then.
