Some of you parents and grandparents will get a kick out of this. My grandson Keith is just beginning to talk, his first word was "Mum" and his second word was "Dractor". We just don't realize what an influence we can have, but when he comes to visit I have restored a little JD pedal tractor that I push him around on, he can't reach the pedals, then we go downstairs to the cabinet where I keep my models and I let him pull the doors open. I keep one model close to the front that he can pick up and there are a couple in the toy box we keep for the granchildren. On the weekend he was here and he sat on my knee while I showed him "Dractors" on the YT files, he even called Nanny, who came in and he pointed to the screen and said triumphantly "Dractor Nanny, Dractor"..I guess he'll be helping hay in ten or twelve years!! I know just what you are talking about Michael!

My 18 month old daughter sits in my lap and points to the little red one in the YTMag logo at the top of the page and hollers "chatchtor!"

One of my 5 year olds first words was "Faamall".

My son is 4, and with me having both a tractor and an mini excavator, he loves both. We can spend hours looking through the 'stuck and troubled' photos.....he just loves seeing an excavator almost out of sight, I just hope he never figures he needs to do it to mine someday....

I have a grandson that has been riding with me and "working" on my Farmall H since he was 6 months old. Last spring my wife and I went back to Missouri to pick up a Farmall Cub that I had bought for her. She always said the H was too big for her and she had fell in love with some Cubs we saw at a show. When we got back to CO, my wife and the grandson, who was three at the time, came out to watch me unload the Cub. The first thing Aaron said to Grandma was, "This tractor is mine and the big tractor is Papa"s. You have to get another one." Whenever we go for a tractor ride now, we have to take "his" tractor. Last summer, he "helped" me re-pack the wheel bearings on both my trailers. He had some plastic tools but they were"nt good enough. He had to have real pliers and screwdrivers to help with.
I hope I can keep him interested in tractors and mechanics and away from all the video games and such.
Larry

Mike:

I know exactly what you mean. "Trac-Tur" was the first word that my 2 yr old daughter said --even before mom & dad! She loves looking through the photo ads on this site with me and has been asking for weeks to go and see the "Trac-Turs", so we took her down to the farm on Sunday to have a peek. Hope you are having the nice temperatures and sunshine down south!

Jeff

Mike,

Isn't it wonderful. I have a grandaughter, 10 years old, who wants her own tractor just like Grandpa's. And I'm not talking scale models. She wants the real thing. Oh, and she also wants to be president some day. Now Grandpa has to brag a bit. This young lady was reading a 3 years old. Not just words, but could pick up a newspaper, read an article and tell you what it was about. Skipped first grade. Is now taking classes at a local college for accelerated learners.

Much to my wife"s chagrin, my son"s FIRST word was"tactor". He"s almost 5 now and of my 4 "tactors", only the "H" is mine. The cub and the F12 are his, and the Regular is his sisters". He doesn"t have a sister(or brother)yet, put he prays every night for one so she can have a tractor. Kevin
