Went to plow the driveway Sunday am, no start. Ran the tractor the previous week for awhile just fine. I had no lights, starter didn't turn, nothing. After trying a booster battery, I put everything back together, gave the starter a couple of raps with a hammer just in case and it started right up. The only problem now is no lights, is it possible I burned the bulbs out when jump starting?? These look like sealed beam headlights, #6493 on the back, or does anyone know?? Connections are all fine. Takes the fun outta plowing at night, (or adds some)...Thanks

IS IT 6 VOLT OR 12??? DONT JUMP A 6 VOLT WITH 12 OR THERE WILL BE TROUBLE. SOMETIMES THE VOLT METER WILL BE RUSTED OR CORRODED INSIDE AND YOU WILL HAVE A HARD TIME STARTING AND THE LIGHTS WONT WORK. MAKE SURE OF YOUR VOLTAGE!!!!

If you had the light switch turned on and jumped it with a higher voltage battery then yes you could have. If the light switch was off then you should be ok. I have heard that the 6 volt lights don't like an 8 volt battery so if you jumped a 6 volt system with a 12 volt battery you could have blown the light bulbs. As long as you don't spin the starter too long your starter will be ok. One of my C's is on 12 volt and the starter works just fine.
