Does the 544 series have down pressure on the 3 point? Mine does not seem to as i cant really get the blade on the drive way to dig in. It seems to just use the weight of the blade. Reading original manual does not make anything clear. Ol timers round here tell me it should. Is there some thing I need to adjust or set to make it have downward pressure?

Nope, no down pressure. Like Jimmy said, the old Fast-Hitch tractors with external cylinders had down pressure, but nothing after the 60 series did. As a general rule, no tractor with a true factory three point hitch will have down pressure.

As far as I know no IH 3 points have down presure, 2 point hitches do except on tractors that can be fitted with either like 706 etc.

Some 3 points have more down pressure than others. Your 3 point should have a "float" pin somewhere that may not be inserted. This will make the hitch more rigid vertically. But, I'm not sure I would want down pressure on a 3-point, and would rather it would float, as the down pressure can cause it to dig in too much -- instead you might adjust the top link so that it digs in more.
