I'm looking for a farmall A block to replace the cracked one I have. What blocks will work for the A ??? Did they use the A engine in any Older combines, bailers ?
Any suggestions?

If the crack is not to bad it can be fixed. The farmall A blocks are noted for cracking behind the carb. To fix a crack that is just the out side water jacket you can "v" it out and use JB Weld it will hold Father-in-law did it to his.

"A" blocks are still not hard to find, I have seen them in the classified adds here. A block from an A, B, C, Super A, Super C (and possibly others as well as some of the combine engines) will fit. Though on the C, Super A, and Super C block there will be a place below the magneto (or distributor) for the hydraulic pump. You will just need to make a cover for that, unless you want to add hydraulics that way to your A (don't laugh, I have heard of it done that way). Where are you located anyways? Hope this helps.
