I need an engine that would replace a 179 diesel. Does anyone know if anything else will bolt up and work?

Hi, is this 179 a 3 cylinder German Diesel engine in a 454,484,495?
Possibly could put a 206 or a 239 4 cylinder German Diesel as a replacement. These engines are used in the 574,584,624,684,695. I know the connection at the torque tube is the same.

Good luck

I doubt it, at least not without changing a bunch of other parts. There is a smaller 3-cylinder German diesel, a 153, I think. I don't know what used that engine. The 179 is fairly common, you should be able to find another one. What tractor is this in?

This is in a 3500 backhoe. He wants to use it to load machinery, so a gas engine would be ok.

Look into the smaller three-cylinder diesel British utility tractors, like the 484. You might need to buy an entire parts tractor to get all the parts you need.
