I have an old IH Little Genuis Number 8 2 bottom plow from what I guess to be the late 30"s early 1940"s and I need to find some Shares for it. I have brand new set of what I"m guessing to be super chief shares, molboards and maybe landsides and nothing in the pile even comes close to what I have on the plow now.I have an owners manual for the plow and it says that I have the quick change shares and frogs.this would be fine if I knew where to look to find parts. I don"t really want to cobble this plow up any more than it already is.Anybody got any ideas or some advice I will try to get som pics of this thing on here later today.

Later,
Will

My old plow is probably from the 30's also and I too was in need of some plow shares.I found some on a farm sale where they were had a 505 (?) 5 bottom and a 750 (?) 7 bottom plow listed. They had a set of 5 plow shares on the 'rack' that I bought thinking that I could modify some how use on mine.Long story short, they fit. All I had to do was shortened them about 2 or 3 inches. The part # on them is IH 465994 R91 4X SOLID.These were off of a much newer mounted plow so they may still be available through CNH. John.

What I have done is install the compete Super Chief bottom onto the #8 Genuis plow. The three large bolts will match the holes in the shank and if you get the latter bottoms you also can make use of the special offset top bolt to tip the point of the plow bottom for added pentration when the ground is harder. Sure works good for me and they do a good job of turning the furrow and parts are a whole lot easier and cheaper to find.

SHares are tough because they were a consumeable, and because there were so many different ones. Yes, there's some NOS out there, but it's a case of being in the right place at the right time. Try Tom Underwood out of Kansas- he has some NOS shares, just not the ones I need! If anyone has a magic source, I'm listening too.....

I stopped buying shares, as I had about 20 NOS ones a few years ago, and even at $10-15 people were still complaining. Now when I buy out a dealership, I just tell the owner that the implement parts (shares included) are worth more to him as scrap. Honestly, in my experience, they are not worth the weight to haul home..
