i purchased a 350 utility with a "bad" ta. when I tore it down, I found that the ta pressure plate and clutch plate were rust frozen and I replaced them. I removed the ta unit and took it to the local international dealer. After looking at it I was told it was ok because it would not turn backward. However, after putting it back together, it slips!!! Have I screwed up, or was I given some bad information. Help Please

If it slips in TA only, you were given bad information, the ramp and rollers are shot. If it slips in direct, there's somthing wrong with the TA clutch. If it slips in both DD and TA, probably the engine clutch. Guess I've never understood why someone would go through the trouble of splitting the tractor twice and not replace the whole TA with a new/rebuilt unit that has a warranty.

Am in the process of replacing TA in a MTA, that I know slipped under load, in fact it would stop. It to did not look bad, but looking closer the ramp had groves in it, am now sure that the rollers would go to this point and not lock up. So we are putting a reman unit in the tractor.

I dont know how they would have tested it under enough load to get it to slip, but they probably didnt try hard enough. My guess....they were wrong...its probably bad.
