We have a farmall m with a cotton picker attached and on the magneto side of the block it has a oil dipstick we have 5 other m various years of production and none of them have the dipstick is that a factory option or a dealer installed item can anyone please let me know . stephen bontrager

if your m with the dipstick has a factory rebuilt block the hole where the dipstick is would have been drilled out and a soft plug installed in the hole which could have been removed and the tube for the dipstick put in by someone or somebody could have just drilled the hole thru the boss where the dipstick goes and put it in themselves. it would take the same tube and dipstick that a 400 would have. or your engine could have been in a power unit or a crawler at one time.these came with the dipstick . but m's from the factory never came that way.

It was born in 1928 TO 9.35 db & 18.03 bhp.

Thank you so much for the info on the 1928 Farmall but excuse my ignorance but what is TO 9.35 db and also where might I find the proper Magneto for this engine Thanks Ray Reed

It was rated 9.35 at the drawbar. The fellow to ask on Regular parts is known here as Nebraska Cowman. He probably has it, is knowlagable of the subject and is a man of integrity by my dealings with him. Bill
