Did I read where you mentioned your 966 having the sway block setup instead of the pin & linkage setup?

Might've dreamed that - been drifting off lately.

Mines got the linkage. Think I'd rather have the sway blocks.

Looked at a 1566 Saturday that had been updated to the sway blocks.

Mitch

Hi Mitch,

No, both of mine have the pin/slider thing. I can't recall a sway block setup since way back in the fast hitch days.

Previous owner provided me with a really nice old piece of chain tho. :>)

This may be a rather dumb question, but what exactly is the sway block setup or the pin and linkage setup? Is this something in the front end?

Hi Chadd,

No, the rear hitch.

Those old sway blocks would keep the hitch from swinging sideways when the hitch was up and then let it move laterally when down and in the field.

They were kind of a neat setup; just two wedge shapped blocks, one mounted on each side of the PTO area. The left arms had a 'wear plate' attached to contact the wedge in the up position.

Thanks for the info. Now I understand what you are talking about. Our 806 with 2pt has the sway blocks and our 966 has the newer mechanical linkage setup.

Yeah,

Those old books always had a paragraph in there that told you that you could switch the blocks from side to side and limit the sway when the hitch was down.

Never could figure out why you would want the hitch to be rigid when it was down. ?? :>)
