Was at the Flywheelers show and tractor pull on Sat, a guy told me Navestar has stopped the issuing of free gas caps. True or False?

Hey F-Dean I would resubmit your app. I sent mine last summer and received about 6 weeks to 2 months after. Its my understanding that when they get so many app they ship. JON

Is this for real or is it a "Snipe Hunt?" I sent my form in a year and a half ago and have not seen or heard anything!

I just received 2 in the mail last week. Took about 3 weeks from mailing the request until I got mine.

Well, I sent one in 2 months ago, and got it almost a month ago, now. So it must still be a working deal.

That should be false. It is my understanding that program will go on forever.

Yep, as long as Navistar keeps the program alive, they're protected from lawsuits stemming from fires caused by the old gas caps. As soon as they stop, some moron will burn themselves to a crisp with an old-style cap, and sue their pants off.

old ones aren't vented so tank becomes pressurized from agitation and heat. open tank with hot engine and fumes ignite. I believe the new caps are taller and marked "vented"?

Actually, the old caps were vented, but a quick quarter turn and the whole cap came off. The NEW safety cap is similar in design to a radiator cap as You need to turn it one-quarter of a turn, then lift the cap slightly to relieve the pressure "IF" the vent has plugged up, then You turn another quarter turn to remove the cap. It's also wize to extinguish all smoking materials while fueling any engine, and shut the engine off, and let it cool down for a bit. It always seemed ODD to Me that the low profile cap that IHC/Navistar is replacing on this program is/was an Industry Standard cap that ALL companies used.... and the taller triple-baffle cap was a Special IHC Only cap that prevented raw gas from possibly excaping from the cap vents....
