Paul, where did you get the lights, I missing the ones on my 460U and haven't really looked for a source. If yours are original equipment repros, or were on the tractor when you got it, they will probably be for the 460U, also.

Are you talking the headlights?
I dont believe they are original. They are supposed to be flat backs, but these look like older model ones. They use Tung Sol sealed beams and they take a bunch of juice to operate.
I plan on replacing them.I might have to start a bidding war for them if people are interested....lol.

The older model ones were teardrops, replaced by the flat backs. The 460 had ones simlar to yours, but I believe yours are incorrect for the 460, just curious.

You will enjoy that shade come July. It seems there is always a breeze under a canopy. It really bugs me you working so hard on that 300U. Mine is about 50 miles away in the shed waiting for spring. You keep me cranked about getting it out and I have enough other projects so... just coolit willyuhhuh?!??! :? )

I have plenty of other things to get done come spring,so I want to get this thing up to speed and off my mind so I can move onto something else.Although I think this will be a perpetual work in progress for quite some time...

Once done it'll last forever. I could write a book about the absolute abuse mine has seen. It not only still looks pretty decent but with occasional coaxing always will run. If you havent done it 12 volt is almost a necessity. No metal has to be cut and I still have what it takes to convert it back. It made the old girl so much more useful. Saved a mountain of money on jumpercables too. When I was young and had to use her while my buddies farms had shiney big tractors, I hated how ugly she was. Funy how she grew out of her awkward years.

12 volt conversion was one of my first modifications.I also replaced the ammeter with a voltmeter.Marine battery box in the stock location, master disconnect switch, solenoid with ballast bypass ciruit,1 wire GM 10si alternator...and the list goes on.

Electronic ignition next....and yes,I did get a Pertronix for 12V neg.
Then the spin on filter conversion...
and...

I just want something that will be dependable, and so I wont have to fiddle with it all the time.Thats what I do to whatever I acquire...I go right thru it and do whatever it needs, that way there should be no surprises later on down the line...
So far, that theory has held true and I'm not about to change now!!
