Does anyone know how they started the F20's at the end of the production line???? Were they all hand cranked or was there some sort of "starting device" that was used. This would also apply to other manufacturers before the electric starter. If not some sort of device, that would be a lot of hand cranking. Thanks in advance. Jim in ILL

Yes, there was a motor and an arm with a few universal joints that did the cranking.

I would be interested in seeing a picture as well. Great job on all of the work you do with the IH historical records. I'm thinking of making a trip this summer to the college and do alittle research myself.
