Im at my wits ends with this dang 14 of mine.I have the float set a good bit lower than spec and it still floods bad when trying to start it.Anybody know the fuel level in the bowl with the top off of the carb, and while Im thinking can someone verify the float settings just to make sure I have it right and not mixed up with some thing else? Thanks!

I had a flood problem with my F12 and it tuned out as the float droped it touched the sid of the bowel and stuck. Then I would take it apart and check the float level and and everything would seem ok. Then after a few minutes of running it would start flooding again. Finaly I noticed the shiny spot on the side of the float where it was striking the bowel.

Oh yeah, one more thing, the bypass line back to the tank had become clogged and the fuel pump was actually pushing the needle open and flooding the engine. Just another maybe... Kevin

As you may remember from several years ago at Dacusville, I suffered the same problem. This may not be much help, but after months and months of thinking, trying, and asking, I gave up and started buying every carb and piece of carb I could find. Finally, I came up with enough to put together a dang good carb. Now my f12 starts and runs great(unless someone is watching me try to start it, but I think there's a little evil in her somewhere that does that just to make a fool of me). Anyway, if ya need some carb parts, let me know, I may have what ya need. Kevin

Yea,I remember that.If you remember mine was hard to start as well.I never really got that out of it,but I put up with it,as long as it didnt rain!I have been going through it and am trying to get it right and do a proper restoration on it.The bolck needs repaired where it crack from freezing many years ago,it doesnt leak bad,but I know itll get worse.the ranny needs a good cleaning and its getting a new paint job.The old restration is showing its age.
I did pretty much the same thing as you did with the carb, and my total is up to about 8 parts carbs, not a single one had a good float so I bit the bullet and got a new one from Rice. I feel as if I clean one more of them Ill have brass fingers!Gas was getting the oil via the pump so I replaced it as well with a kit from Rice. Its pumping good now.Already rebuilt the mag and its hot.I just cant narrow the problem on the carb down.Oh well,Ill get it soon I hope!
