i have tried the suggestions given, but my tractor still balks at running decent until it has run 5-10 minutes. very ragged-occ needs choking. have heet in gas tank-cardboard over 1/4 radiator to keep in heat-but still wont run decent until warm--then its ok. have tried to adjust float level so less gas in bowl--dont know if that worked-how can you tell?? ideas?? (all accepted except trade for johndeere) thankxredfred

Perhaps not on target for subject, but as a kid the neighbors and my dad used each others tractors very frequantly. Out of 8 tractors involved in the trade 2 were AC WD 45s. The only one that bothered was just one of the 45s where as when we fueled from each others fuel barrels we had to adjust the fuel mixture on it every time we filled from each others barrel (a different brand fuel). I wonder if the carburator is cleaned properly, but like mentioned before, that time frame is not real far out of line. Probably on the top end of the time frame though. Try setting her rich enough to make her smoke when warmed up then back it down a tad bit. Then try again when she is cold. Always count how far you adjust so you can get her back to where you started-- just in case. Dave NE IOWA

Less gas in the float bowl will make the engine run leaner and take even longer to warm up. Did you try adjusting the idle mixture screw?

5-10 minutes -- sounds normal to me, particualrly in cold weather. Don't get it too lean, that will make it worse.
