M temperature gauge

Greetings, I have a Farmall Super M with a temperature gauge which only works upon occasion, upon inspection I found where the wire from the gauge attaches to the probe was broken. Is where the wire connects to the sensor suppose to be soldered? Thanks for any info. Jack

The gauges that North Otto Tractor Parts sells are the ugly ones that are made in turkey. The pointer is not correct, and the quality is suspect. I know for a fact that most of the temp gauges are bad, as a friend of mine sells these in the CASE format and has to solder the probe at the end of the capillary or water will enter the gauge.

It's a hollow tube filled with a special gas. If it's broke the entire guage is junk.

Try any IH Dealer for this part. Ask for either part # 406989R91 or # 536960R2. Either one will fit the M.
