What type shift knob should my SMTA have on it? It had a rubber one when I got it that was not really attached, just slid on. Lost it this year so wondering what to get as replacement and how to keep it on. No threads on the lever. On the SMTA between the TA lever and PTO lever the operator platform isn't real wide anyway so not sure How much I really miss the knob. Just seems like there should be one there.

Your local case IH dealer should have them for about 6 to 7.00, also on ebay all the time

My favorite knob is one a neighbor made for me. He had an old brass doorknob he drilled out to fit. I was haying for him and he thought I needed a knob.

The set screw won't tighten up, but it has a nice luster.

Hard rubber is factory.

That rubber one was probably what came from the factory. It was just old and hard and slid off easy. A new one will be soft and will more than likely grip the gear shift lever good and tight.

captaink, that is the most poetic description of replacing a rubbber I've ever read. Thank you.
