Does the IH wide front for IH letter series tractors have any advantages over the Schwartz, other than collector value? Just curious, Glenn

In my opinion if you are going to work the tractor go with the schwartz, if you are going to show the tractor go with the factory. My two cents.

A couple of comments: Schwartz parts are still available at a reasonable price, as are complete front ends. Schwartz is a stronger front end if you plan on using a loader or other heavy front-end implement. Heavy duty Schwartz has 6 bolt hubs that are a common implement pattern - was always helpful to me when I got a flat, just borrow one from an implement for that day...

Factory front ends are nice, turn easy enough, etc. they also increase collector value...

Personally, if I had to buy a wide front I would buy Schwartz over factory again.

Probably not Glenn, some will argue that one will turn shorter than the other, the older original IH WFE's had the tie rods out front where they were more likely to be damaged than if they were in the back like the Schwartz units. I think it boils down to (like you said) the viewpoint of the owners. At least you can still find more replacement parts for the Aftermarket units than you can for NOS parts for the original WFE's. I have a Schwartz WFE on my '48 M and love it.
