I am restoring a nice SMTA. Had aftermarket wide front. I have a single front and a narrow front. Which one would you guys use? which one would make the tractor most valuable? Thanks Warren

I'd say go with the narrow front. Tractors look screwy with only one wheel in front, and I think the NF can give a classy, tough look.
Make sure you get that funny bolt for a stop (so the steering wheel just doesn't spend round and round.

I'd either leave the wide front on it, or go with the two-wheel narrow front. The single-wheel makes them look dumb, IMHO.

Dumb or not, the single front was made for a purpose, i.e. cultivating narrow row crops. We had a narrow front on our H for culitvating crops in 20 inch rows. If it is left on during tillage operations, it doesn't have much flotation, making the tractor harder to steer--but that is usually not a problem.

CN,

Yep, if he was watching that tractor work in $50 to $65 a ton surgar beets or $17 a ctw beans, then it wouldn't look quite so "dumb". :>)

It is all what we are used to, I guess.

Guess it is your preference. I bought a SMTA with single front wheel, would like to have wide front but settled for a 2 wheel front. I like it better than the single front wheel but other guys like the single front. If it is a user the most value is to you. If you decide to sell you can always change to whatever front they buyer wants.
