TSC, Van Sickle, etc sell synthetic enamel, the type paint that came on tractors from ancient times, thru the 60's and 70's. There may be differences in the quality of synthetic enamel, but it is still synthetic enamel, meaning it fades more rapidly than modern paints. The minimum standard is Case-IH 2150, which is a form of acrylic enamel, next up the ladder are the "economy" brands from the major companies such as the acrylic enamels and urethanes from PPG(Omni) and DuPont(Nason), which are in the $80+/ gallon range -- more than that if you use the recommended primers and surfacers, as I do--$200-$300 is more like it, counting everything. There are better paints, but for me they get cost prohibitive pretty fast. It takes me several months to prep a tractor, including stripping to bare metal, and fixing everything that needs fixing. I'm simply not going to risk cheap paint after that much work and expense. If I were going to do a "wash and spray" job, then I would use TSC or Van Sickle.

TSC paint is awfull. They have no quality control at the factory. Spray something with a can from 2 different batches. It is a joke what tehy get away with selling at a premium price.
You would be further ahead with a rustoleum.

To answer your question directly, I think the 350U sshould have gray/silver rear rims. At least, that's what they look like in some old IH advertisements I've seen, and That's what I painted mine. My front rims looked the same as the off white trim, so that's what I painted mine.

Yes, less expensive paint doesn't look as good or last as long, but if ya gotta, ya gotta. By the time I bought all the parts to fix mine up, I had the choice of cheap paint, or no paint. I choose cheap paint, and think it looks better than no paint. In time, I'll strip it off and do it again with the good stuff. For now, this tractor works for a living, and there's more mud showing than paint. TSC paint, or Ditzzler - it all looks the same covered in mud.

I did note that it had noticibly faded in a year, so I built a shed to store it under. Sure is nice not to have 6 inches of snow or a 1/2 in of freezing rain on it when we head to the wood lot!

The old Farm & Fleet red was so good looking but it fades so bad. I don't like TSC paint If your going to all the troble to get it ready at least use paint from the IH dealer You won't save 10.00 a gal

Farm store paints are generally of poor quality ans quite often not exactly the correct color, I would suggest that you get your paint from your local Case-IH dealer, the price will be about the same.

Ya what those guys said. I painted some equipment with TSC paint and it faded to pink in one year. Preparation is the big item in repainting or restorationm - the few bucks saved at TSC won't pay for your disappointment. An exception is some farm stores carry Van Sickel brand paint made in Lincoln NE and it is great paint. My nickel Dick Davis

Van Sickle also makes a good version of "Farmall Gray." Just call the 1-800 number on their regular cans and make arrangements.

How about the Rustoleum? I bought a rattle can of Rustoleum IH red. Painted an old computer case to try it out. It's a nice red, but I've heard that it isn't quite right.
