hello,
Putting a '53 H back together from pieces. Bought as a project, and the pieces were lying about. Well I degrease and clean up the waterpump and see that is has a hairline crack in the pulley and maybe onto the housing, super super thin? Would a fella be foolish to assemble with this and wait to see if it leaks? Or should I purchase another water pump? How to assess? thanks,
Also, are all '53 H's considered a Super H?

If its the front half of pulley it turns to adjust belt,I don't belive it would be cracked into water pump.It can be replaced buy its self.
In 53 there was H and SH, two different tractors.
Main differance between H and early SH was engine
size and transmission gear speeds 2nd,3rd,4th.Late
53 along with 54 SH had live Hydraulic.

Hairline cracks in pulleys scare me that they will throw a piece off and cracks in water pumps bother me. If it were mine, I’d replace it while you have it apart rather than have to pull it down again later.

Just my thoughts.
