one of those portable jump-starts? never seen one in 6v. I tried one on the b but it wouldn't put any juice into the 6v system, voltage sensor safety feature of some sort?

You should get a battery charger that has booster
starting amperage. Northern tool has a 200 amp
charger for $119.00. It's for 6 & 12 volt batteries too. The item number is 167756-1502.
Their toll free number is 1-800-533-5545.
We had a truck with a big DC generator that was driven from the transfer case so we could slave
(jump) start tanks or trucks. Most military vehicles are 24 volts, but we could get 12 volts too. That booster makes a big difference in cranking speed. Hal

Never seen a 6V booster pack. The fact that halving the voltage, means doubling the amperage to get the same power level as a 12V pack,it wouldnt be very practical.
Ex:a 1200 peak amp booster pack in 12v would need 2400 amps peak in a 6V version. That would weigh a bunch to carry around easily. Not to mention the wire gauge of the cables/clamps would need to be huge.
Also, the last carline offered in the US with 6V was the 1966 VWs.....(however there were lots of import cycles offered in the 70s with 6V,plus mopeds and scooters...not many of those needing jump starts).
