They're saying ice, then 2-4 inches of snow on top by morning. All the guys here at the mill are studying the "Inclement Weather Policy" to be ready in the morning. It basically says if you're in the ditch or in the hospital you're excused, if you call in.
People in S.C. are famosly clueless about driving in the snow.

Hey, William. Don't worry about people from the Carolinas. They can't drive here in western Washington either. I'm a truck driver and I thought if I went to the east side of the Cascade Mtn range where they do get a lot of snow, people would know how to drive... Guess what. They don't! My conclusion, be careful, avoid everybody else, and asume everyone is an IDIOT!

William: Again Merry Christmas, Let me assure you you don't have an exclusive on that clueless driving in snow title. There are those here in Canada, that can do a good number on the record. SW Ontario was having accidents at the rate of 100 per hour Thurs. am.

We actually have prople with SUV's think they can drive 70 mph, when it is so slippery, loaded transport trucks can spin their wheels at 50 mph in high gear. I have had this happen as the truck driver, and not 1 or 2 going by me but 100s of them. Mind you, not all of them driving SUV's either. There is only one cure for this, that being a granite rock, the size of a Chevy Cavalier, in the ditch every 500' along the road.

The way I see it is I have a four wheel drive truck I sometimes yell at the people in front of me and pass like an idiot. But the big thing is we all have to stop and having that 4 wheel drive doesn't do any good for ya when its time to stop or slow down for a turn. When I get the rage now my wife reminds me that that could be my daughter in front of me learning how to drive in the snow and thats usally enough to calm the rage a little.I admit we have been really lucky here in central NY The snow melted wed with 60 and rain and now its signal digits. But I am sure glad some of these kids in the South and Texas even are able to have a white Christmas. Last year it started snowing here in early NOV and never stopped until April. Its a nice change to see grass this time of year. Have a happy holiday Hugh and Keep the snow gate closed up there as long as you want. JON

You got that right Hugh! It never fails to amaze me that people actually speed up in bad weather. I'm an ex trucker too, and I still drive small stuff the same way I used to drive big stuff, lots of following distance, no sudden moves, take life easy, no big rush. I just don't understand what the big hurry is. I'd much rather arrive a few minute or even hours later than wake up dead!
