It reached -32C here this morning. Wind chill -45C
I have a 1941 W-4, a 1955 B250, and a 2000 Chev P/U.
Which one started first?
The 63 year old W-4. Plugged the block heater in for 15 minutes and away she went. The Chev took 3 hours. (never tried the B250 deisel)

We keep the W-4 in shape to turn a 15Kw emergency generator. It does a great job!

Sorry to hear about you guys with the Ford's having troubles. Last year my Silverado fired up at -31 F around Highmarket NY and she didn't have any problems. You could tell the oil was thick though!

Hi Eric you must be in the same part of Canada I am. I am about 60 miles east of Kingston. It sure was some cold out last night and today.
Here is a link to a great site for converting temps from C to F or F to C. Is easier then a calculator.

We were about -10 F this morning finally got enough snow to plow. I went out to play and The old ford plow truck that was givin to me thats the only way I would take a ford by the way Would not start. It did start on Fire a few times though. The wife says ahh what are you going to do I say let her burn. And I went and Got the old H out. Started right up When I let the clutch out she grunted a little getting that 90 weight to move around .You just cant beat this old Iron. JON

That really doesn't surprise me dads old H would always start, it might be so cold that the battery barely had anything left but if the engine could be cranked over twice it would start and run.

For those of you wondering, -32 C is equal to about -26 F. Definatley cold enough to seperate the red from the green tractors! (Course at that temp they might all be blue :>})

Hey Captaink, Thanks for pointing out the C. Im thinking F, oh well. This time of year 20wt oil works good in the old Farmalls!

Captaink - Thanks ... I didn't catch the "C" ... I was thinking "F". But as you said .... it's still cold enough!

It was a balmy 11F here in Maryland. We had a dusting of snow and they shut down many of the schools in Southern Maryland! I can't imagine even entertaining the thought of leaving the house if it was -32. What weight oil do you guys use when it's -32? Honing oil? Keep the ear muffs on!!

It was a balmy 12degreeF here in SD this am. After reading this thread I thought I would try to start my H. It fired in about two revolutions. But it was a little too brisk outside the heated (50F) shop so I just shut it down and came in for another cup of joe.
