After looking at some photos of tractors with cabs, I was wondering if there was ever one for the "A" or Super A ? If anyone has any pictures I would be curious to see what they look like for interest sake.

Thanks.

Brian, Ih never built a cab for Aor Super A. Heat houser would work but not going to get much heat from it, just keep wind off your back. Keith in Tillsonburg, Ont. (Was a salesman for Ih for 15 years, and supply parts for restoration today).

Brian: That west wind going by here must be reaching Toronto, with you talking cab. I have seen one, a home fabricated affair. Builder did quite a decent job. He built it with diagnol front sections meeting at steering shaft. The one on right was his door. It did place a post almost directly in front of operator. I don't have a photo, but could clearly see it did keep weather off the operator. He didn't have heater or windshield wipers.

IH also had a canvas heat houser back when these were new. I've never seen one, but remember it was on list when I ordered one for Farmall 560.

Problem with cabs on small tractors, if caliber is the same they probably cost more than cab for a big tractor. Material will be a wee bit less, but labour will drive it through the roof. I would suggest a persomal fabrication is your best bet.

I keep thinking that I will get around and build a cab for my 300. Just keeping the cold wind off your back makes all the difference.

Don: If I were doing a Farmall 300, I would go the heat houser route. Back in the 60s we had them for 300 and 560. I've seen those things throw so much heat when temps were around the freezing mark, one would have to open them beside the engine. I had factory cabs on 656 and 1066. Cabs blow heat from cieling, with the heat houser it comes right up from your feet. With the canvas back in place, only one place for heat to escape, right up past your body. Beauty is you can still buy a new heat houser for most of those old row crops. It only works well on the tractors you mount and dismount via drawbar.

Problem with cabs on these older row crops is the operator is just back too far, for making a good cab.

Speaking of cold ! It's a chilly day out there today !!!!! !! I've often thought of making a cab, but reality is that I really don't go out long enough to justify one, ususally when it's snowing the temp is more reasonable. If I had to go out daily however, that would be another story ! The reason I was wondering about a cab is after seeing the cub with a cab, I thought that was pretty neat. Further, I remember some folks mentioning that the A's were sometimes used for Utilities including plowing snow, figuring they would probably have some need for a cab in that situation.

Anyway, thanks for reponse, hope you and your family have a great Holiday !

Best Regards,
Brian, Toronto
