Finnaly grabbed the Carb off that 300. Yuk is it nasty. I had to literally peal the Air hose off it. It was like a viscus Liquid slime melted thing.
Choke and throttle are corroded solid. Fuel bowl was just as bad.
I guess we shal see how good that MAc's soaking stuff is.
Any one ever get one this bad to work before?

When I run across one like that, I will usually disassemble, run through the ultrasonic cleaner, bead blast and use air to blow all passages. Haven't had one fail to work yet.

Having some carb issues with my own 300U and can't find a new float, please keep us informed as I would dearly like to find a new float, I believe mine is incorrect and therefore hangs up on occasion, have to use the petcock set at trickle to keep from flooding.

Thanks

Hey Kelly, I had a SMTA that had slime and water like a fish bowl inside. I like to bead blast the carbs when I rebuild them. That soaking stuff doesnt clean the rust and corrosion from the cast nore does it clear the passages.

Hi Kelly, yeah have had a couple like that, and some fuel bowls that had stuff growing in "em. The good news for you is that after the clean up you can put in new parts. I play with the diesels and still haven"t found a source for F-8 carbs. (I do a lot of "poke and hope") Have fun, I enjoy your posts. Geoff NY
