If you are talking about the optional low low speed gears, there is a lot more to it than changing a couple of gears. The counter shaft and 2nd gear must be changed too. That is because the counter shaft and the first gear are one part due to the gear diameter being too small to make one that slides onto the counter shaft. Since normally 1st and 2nd gear on the countershaft are together, you have to get a new single gear for second. Also, I believe the reverse idlers may be different. May be other parts that have to change too.

No the H & M gear sets are totally different, they will not interchange. If you have a parts manuel for either an M or H you should take a look at it. The slow speed 1st gear was an option in both the H and M. There is a lot more to changing your tractor from the standard low gear to the slow speed 1st gear. Not only is the first speed gear different but also the idler is differenct also. There is quit a lost if different parts between the two.

No!NO!NO! What I meant was I had a 40 M with low gears once. And I have a 41 H rearend here now I was basically saying if the older ones had the low speed than this 41 H may have low speed also. JON
