Guys,
somewhere on this site somebody had stated that 340 farmall did not have T/A"s. I just wanted to let somebody know that this is not true. My 1960 Farmall 340 Utility has a three point and a T/A. Maybe the U"s have a T/A and the regular does not? I"ve only ever seen the one 340 I have so who knows?

Later,
Will

I have a 1961 Farmall 340 with T/A. If I am remember the literature correctly, it was an option. It also could be ordered with a reverser/shuttle gear. I think if it had the shuttle gear, then there was not a place for the T/A. I suspect the T/A was much more common.

Mguy: TA was always an option in IH tractors. Problem is so many of them were equiped with TA it now looks as though it must have been an option to order one without TA. It was available on most American built IH over 30 hp since 1954, except Super H. The other exceptions being 600 and 650 as well as big articulateds. Your 340 falls in the yes catergory, but definately an option.

European built IH tractors did not get TA until late 60s maybe even 70s.

A couple years ago a 340 nf sold at auction here from original owner with no TA and just a drawbar. I guess it was ordered that way.

The statement about the TA in the book that was referred to is a typo. Even after books are proofed by 2 or 3 people, typos still occur.

In 1960 my father and I purchased a 340 Farmall
with T/A, fast hitch and LPTO. Basic equipment included either fast hitch or 3pt. Options were numerous, including T/A, LPTO, external hydraulic system and control valves, power steering, power adjusted wheels, etc. Not all options were available on both the utility and Farmall. I have the original brochure, books and tractor that I use for mowing only. It has 3900 hrs and has the original T/A. Hope you enjoy your utility, could not think of walking out to the pole barn and not
seeing the 340. I have a few others to but this is my favorite.

My 1959 Farmall 340 has T/A, every Farmall 340 I have seen does as well. Believe it could be ordered either way.

My grandfather bought a new Farmall 340 in '61, it had fast hitch and TA, and tricycle front end. We had that tractor for a few years after his death, and dad traded it off. Man I wish I had it back just for sentimental reasons.
